I love to go to craft shows....but to be honest other than a few really big shows....I find they are poorly promoted (no fault of organizers...most small shows don't have much of an advertising budget)...and many people just don't know about them until the last minute....which could account for the reported dwindling attendance at craft shows. Which means you get a lot of tire kickers and not a lot of buyers. Especially these days when a person can walk into a "dollar store" and sometimes buy similar items to what you would find at a craft show for a lot cheaper.
I am one of the organizers of the Sam Slick Craft Show that's held in August of each year, and I am looking for ideas on how to improve the show for my crafters, and also to make people want to come in and spend their money on these crafts that my crafters have put a lot of effort into. Quite frankly you get what you pay for, and the stuff you get at the discount store (made in some third world country) will not last as long as a hand-crafted item made right here in the Maritimes.
